Creating a Customer Management Lead

To understand the rules of Leads in relation to Contacts and Companies in the Customer Management Module, see the Rules for Leads, Contacts, and Companies reference document.

There are three ways to create a lead in the Customer Management Module.

  • Method 1: Creating a lead using the Plus button and the search fields 

    • From any listing or detail page, click on the Plus button in the upper right hand corner.
    • Select the pipeline for which you’d like to create a new lead.
    • Please note: If you want to associate the lead with an existing company, begin typing in the “Company” field and from the search results select the company with which you want the lead to be associated. The company information (if available in the system) will then be used to populate the relevant company fields.
    • Please note: If you want to associate the lead with an existing contact, begin typing in either the “First Name”, “Last Name”, or “Email” field and from the search results select the contact with which you want the lead to be associated. The contact information (if available in the system) will then be used to populate the relevant contact fields.
    • Enter the rest of the information you have about the lead.
    • Then click on the “Create Lead” button.
    • The lead will now appear on the Lead Listing Page as well as on the Leads Tab for the company and/or contact with which it is associated.
  • Method 2: Creating a lead from a company
    • From the Global Navigation Menu, choose “Customer Management” and click on the Company Listing Page.
    • Click on the name of the company from which you want to create a lead.
    • From the Company Detail Page’s Quick Actions Menuselect “Create Lead from Company”.
    • Select the pipeline in which you’d like to create the lead.
    • The company information in the RLM system will be used to populate the relevant fields for the lead you’re creating.
    • Enter the rest of the information you have about the lead.
    • Then click on the “Create Lead” button.
    • The lead will now appear on the Lead Listing Page as well as on the Leads Tab for the company (and the contact, if applicable) with which it is associated.
  • Method 3: Creating a lead from a contact
    • From the Global Navigation Menu, select “Customer Management” and click on the Contact Listing Page.
    • Click on the name of the contact from which you want to create a lead.
    • From the Contact’s Detail Page’s Quick Actions Menu, select “Create Lead from Contact”.
    • Select the pipeline in which you’d like to create the lead.
    • The information about the contact in the RLM system will be used to populate the relevant fields for the lead you’re creating.
    • Please note: If the contact is associated with a company, the lead will also be associated with that contact’s company, so those company fields will also be populated.
    • Enter the rest of the information you have about the lead.
    • Then click on the “Create Lead” button.
    • The lead will now appear on the Lead Listing Page as well as on the Leads Tab for the contact (and the company, if applicable) with which it is associated.
