Changing the Company Associated with a Contact

To change the company with which a contact is associated, you must edit the contact directly:

  • Start on the Contact Detail Page of the contact you want to edit.
  • From the Quick Actions Menu, click on “Edit Contact”.
  • If the contact is already associated with a company, click on the blue minus button beside the “Company Name”. A pop-up will appear that says: “Unlink Company: are you sure you want to unlink [company name] from this Contact?” Click on “Yes” to confirm. The “Company Name” field will be cleared.
  • Begin typing in the “Company Name” field. If the company with which you want to associate the contact already exists, select it from the search results.  If the company does not already exist in the system, click on the “Create New Company” after typing the new company’s complete name and the new company will be created.
  • Now the contact’s “Company Name” field will show the new company name.
  • Click on the “Save” button.
  • Upon saving your updates, the contact will then be associated with the new company you selected and listed on that company’s Contacts Tab.

To associate more than one company with a contact, you must edit the contact directly:

  • Start on the Contact Detail Page of the contact you want to edit.
  • From the Quick Actions Menu, click on “Edit Contact”.
  • In the blank “Company Name” field, begin typing the name of the company. If the company with which you want to associate the contact already exists, select it from the search results.  If the company does not already exist in the system, click on the “Create New Company” after typing the new company’s complete name and the new company will be created.
  • After each “Company Name” field that is used, a new blank “Company Name” field will appear below it.  Continue to select or create new companies until all companies with which this contact is associated have been listed.
  • Click on the “Save” button.
  • Upon saving your updates, the contact will then be associated with the companies you selected and listed on each company’s Contacts Tab. The contact will only appear once on the Contact Listing Page, however the “Companies” column will list each linked company, comma-separated.

To disassociate a company from a contact, you must edit the contact directly:

  • Start on the Contact Detail Page of the contact you want to edit.
  • From the Quick Actions Menu, click on “Edit Contact”.
  • Click on the blue minus button beside the “Company Name”. A pop-up will appear that says: “Unlink Company: are you sure you want to unlink [company name] from this Contact?” Click on “Yes” to confirm. The “Company Name” field will be cleared.
  • If there are multiple companies associated with a contact, follow the above instructions for each company to be disassociated from the contact.
  • Click on the “Save” button.
  • Upon saving your updates, the Contacts Tabs and Contact Listing Page will be updated to reflect the changes made.
